Appreciating the Darker Side of Beauty.

I've been meaning to do a post on Givenchy. My love affair with the Givenchy Fall 08 RTW line has been ongoing since the models walked the runway earlier this year. I could never get it off of my mind. Its not something I’m typically attracted to, but for me…this promising line gets it right in that simplistic and mysterious way. I love this line because it is bold and it hits you in a way that makes you feel dark, romantic, and a bit masculine in a very chic and sexy way.  The tailored pantsuits, ageless blouses, and surprisingly edgy wedges...so delicious. And of course the statement making boatloads of blang on the neck pretty much make the outfit. This fall I’m loving all the black and what I like to call femme fetale pieces mixed with the girly goth. I love this line and you will most definitely find me rockin’ my own take on these glorious masterpieces this season.

Strawberry Devil.

The other day I was walking around my old turf when I stumbled upon a cupcake bakery located next to some of my favorite restaurants. I couldn’t believe that this café has been around for three years and I never once noticed it! Blissful Bites is an amazing café/bakery that serves the cutest, most delicious cupcakes…oh, and an awesome latte! I had a Strawberry Devil, which was great…milk chocolate-y with a beautiful and fantastic fresh strawberry and butter cream frosting. I’m not the biggest frosting or cupcake fan, but this was hands down one of the best cupcakes ever. If you’re a cupcake lover, you must try and if you aren’t, these will convert you. Plus, they’re cute and when food is cute, it’s easier to try and love. =) BTW, Sorry for the lack of posts lately...i'll get on it!  xo

A Gem in NoPa.

Papalote, my friends, is one of the best Mexican Restaurants in San Francisco. Well, thats kind of a big statement considering I've only eaten at a few Mexican restaurants in SF. But what I can tell you, is that I stand by this statement. I love Papalote for many reasons. One,it made me want to leave my apartment during torrential downpour. Two, the food is great! I highly suggest that you try the Machaca with eggs ( I didn't even know about this till a certain lovely let me try some...and now I will travel far for this dish), the carne asada burrito with guacamole, and the shrimp  quesadilla. The variety of food and the flavors at Papalote are great! This restaurant is certainly not your typical chain Mexican restaurant. The atmosphere is super relaxed, warm, and welcoming-the mix of the colorful and vibrant kites, the chill music (last time I was there they were playing something Manu Chao sounding), and the friendly vibes from the staff bring it all together! Go try it, you will not be disappointed and if you go for the burrito…make sure you bring your appetite! Enjoy it!

A Chapeau for everyone.

Fall is in the air and its time to bundle up! As soon as the fog rolls in and it starts to rain, you probably grab anything in sight to protect your fabulous coiffure! Instead of dealing with cold ears, a messy or frizzy do…add one of these charming winter hats to your outfit!

…and if you’re in the mood to splurge…

The Dottie Beret is my favorite! It’s adorable and is a perfect everyday hat!  And if you’re going for a simple classic look a la Blair, the Gwen and Marc Berets are great! I love the Marni headband…I’m not sure how warm this will keep you, but it will add a unique flair to any winter look.

Deviant.

I'm not a huge Ed Westwick fan. But, I do love his GG character, Chuck Bass. He's someone everyone has grown fond of ...probably because we love to hate him. Bass also has great and unexpected style. Anywho...I wanted to share these photos from Ed's K-Swiss shoot. They're tres Chuck Bass and actually pretty cool...and I've become slightly obsessed with the Chuck/Blair story line. So enjoy...I know a little bird who will most definitely appreciate them. Who is she? thats a secret I'll never tell. :)

xoxo,

C

A Parisian Treat

Monday nights are great for one reason, Gossip Girl. But tonight when I flipped to the CW…it wasn’t on. Unfortunately, for me I missed one great episode and almost missed my new favorite commercial. Luckily, as I was flipping around I flipped right to the new Miss Dior Cherie commercial! I searched for it right away and found out that it was set to make its debut on tonight’s Gossip Girl.  As soon as I saw it, I thought…Wow! That’s the cutest commercial ever! And yeah of course it is! My favorite director, the brilliant Sofia Coppola created these charming and delightful 30 seconds!

This commercial is amazing…Paris, Bridget Bardot, Couture, Sofia, and lots of great girly elements. I’ll have a video for you soon! Till then, enjoy these…

See in the bay area we dance a lil’ different.

I love discovering new hot spots and great places to wine and dine and after living in the bay area for several years, you would think that I have this hugeee list of great clubs, lounges, and restaurants. But, I don’t, but what I do have and this is something I call QUALITY over quantity. I have POLENG Lounge. I love Poleng and I’m always dying for someone to go there with me. The food is a tad overpriced, but so great and you can’t really complain when you order their Crispy Adobo Wings or Sweet Potato Fries with Banana Catsup. One of my favorite parts of Poleng is that it becomes a club/lounge after 10. The music is the best part. A variety of top 40, random music that’s under the radar, LOTS OF bay area, classic r&b, and just great hip hop and rap. I always have a great time. The atmosphere is a weird, fabulous balance of urban serenity. This is the place to be if you love great food and love having a great time, whether you are eating or dancing. It’s also probably the best place to hang out at near USF, that is if you aren’t at Papalote.

Even Better

I've never been one to rush out and buy the latest in beauty products, but I came across this ad in Vanity Fair today and instantly felt the need to go out and buy the product. That product being...Clinque Even  Better Skin Tone Corrector. This product is suppose to reduce the appearance of sun spots, dark patches from acne scars, random stresses on the skin, and more in about 4 to 6 weeks! I can't wait to try it and let you know how it goes!

Channeling B.

We all love and adore Miss Blair Waldorf, well at least her perfectly put together looks that make her the saucy Upper East Sider that she is. So, with that being said…I’m sure all of you like me would love a little Queen B in your closet. Here are some finds that truly channel Blair…along with some Jackie O essence to complete the east side of the park look. Enjoy.

Queen B.

Can anyone become a Queen B? This is a question I’ve been asking myself a lot lately. Some people have their own style and some adopt the style of others. I’ve come to the conclusion that neither is bad. However, it is important to keep in mind that you should indeed have your own personal style. I would like to think that I have my own style, even if I am a sucker for hot trend pieces and certain runway looks. It’s just hard when you see such beautiful masterpieces from Balmain, Givenchy, and oddly enough Gossip Girl. Or wait? Is it really that odd that Gossip Girl is setting trends? No, not one bit. I know, I know I’m late on jumping on the GG band wagon. Besides the fact that this show is amazing in the sense that it is well scripted, better than the OC, and exudes insane fashion trends that are driving me and the rest of the world crazy. This show offers a wide span of superb styling that is present in everything the cast wears…however I am especially always beyond impressed by Blair Waldorf’s ensembles.  Her cattiness mixed with snobbery, along side her insecurities and the need to be loved are part of who Blair is. But the best part of  it all is that all of those elements are never noticeable in Blair’s flawless looks, which is the beauty of Blair Waldorf and why we adore her.
